Soccer team rekindles former bonds

IT has been 55-years since the original Claremont High School soccer team first stepped foot on the field and begun its journey to many future victories.

In celebration of this milestone and to rekindle old friendships, 18 team members of the late high school converged on The Club Hotel in Glenorchy for a special reunion lunch.

“Although the school is no longer there, having been demolished five-years-ago, the memories of players, coaches and the many games played still remain,” Claremont High School original soccer team member, David Carson, said.

“Many of us haven’t seen each other for 50-years and a reunion seemed the perfect opportunity to rebuild old friendships and discover where everyone has ended up.

“We had people travelling from the north of the state to attend and even had a phone conversation with a former player now living in New Zealand.

“Following the great success of the event, we now have plans to host another reunion event in August and are encouraging any former team members from the years 1962 to 1966 to get in contact.”

For more information about the upcoming reunion, phone David Carson on 0474 960 139.
