New program for pre-kinder at Dominic College

CHILDREN who have not started school yet can begin their pre-kinder learning in a new free program at Dominic College.

The “Launch into Learning” program is designed for children and parents, or grandparents, to play together, experience dancing, singing and music, and explore gardens and the natural environment.

The sessions, which are conducted by Dominic College teacher Linda Douglas, run for 90-minutes each Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon during the school term.

Mrs Douglas said that each week would have a different focus, based on developing fine motor skills, listening skills, social skills, or early literacy and numeracy skills.

“I am very excited to be implementing a Launch into Learning program at Dominic College in 2017,” she said.

“We have a wonderful environment for parents and children to explore.

“The key component is to develop an early love of learning and the best start before kindergarten.”

Mrs Douglas said that since the program was delivered in schools that taught kindergarten through to year 10, participants could also benefit from additional resources.

“We can give the children and parents some lovely experiences with our specialist teachers, where they will partake in our kitchen program, a music session and a visit to the College library,” she said.

Dominic College’s new Launch into Learning program is free, but booking are required with the college registrar, Michele Guy, on telephone 6274 6010 or email
