GREEN finger Neil Harwood has been recognised for his long service and contribution to the Claremont Garden Group with life membership.

Mr Harwood has served with the Claremont Garden Group, as well as the Claremont Flower Shop Group, in a number of roles, including as the organiser of the Claremont Lily and Summer Flower Show.

Mr Harwood, who spends three to four hours a day tending to his own garden, joined the group due to his love of gardening.

“I do it because it’s a great thing for the community,” Mr Harwood said.

“It’s one of those community activities that means a lot to a lot of people and provides a service.

“It’s about making friendships, companionships and helping people.”

The Claremont Garden Group has about 30 members, with new members joining all the time.

Mr Harwood hopes to hold the Claremont Lily and Summer Flower Show in early January 2021.
