COMMUNITY members are invited to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Glenorchy municipality at the annual Moonah Taste of the World Festival at Benjafield Park on Sunday 24 March.

Glenorchy City Council coordinator community planning and engagement Andrea Marquardt said planning was well underway for this year’s festival, which was promising to be even bigger and better than before.

“The festival has been running since 2011 and is always a highlight on the community events calendar,” she said.

“We are looking forward to another great event again this year.

“The ‘Nyrstar Eat Street’ will again be a highlight of the festival, with a range of food from all over the world.

“There will be about 30 food and drink stalls, including some favourites from previous years and some groups participating for the first time.

“People can choose foods from countries including South America, Ethiopia, India, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Italy, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia and many more.

“It is truly a global event.”

Along with the diverse food on offer, the festival will also feature an array of free entertainment throughout the day.

Musicians and dancers from around the world will perform across two stages and there will be a variety of entertainment and fun interactive activities for the whole family.

“Whether you would like to sit and listen to music or get involved in one of the great activities such as grape crushing, there will be something for all ages,” Ms Marquardt said.

“Families are encouraged to come along and make a day of it – bring a blanket and take time out to relax while soaking up the atmosphere.”

Moonah Taste of the World will be held at Benjafield Park in Moonah between 11am and 4pm with free entry.

There will be a free shuttle bus on a continuous loop from the Hopkins Street carpark in Moonah.
