Mitigating the threat of bushfire

THE Glenorchy City Council recently hosted a number of community “walk and talk” sessions to aid in the draft development of its Bushfire Mitigation Strategy and Bushfire Mitigation Plans.

The community consultation sessions, which were held at the bushland reserves in early March, allowed the council to gain a better understanding of the community’s perceived bushfire risks and what they valued about the bushland reserves.

Council will continue to provide the community with project updates throughout the development of the strategy.

For more information, please contact Glenorchy City Council’s bushfire management coordinator Rob Whittle by phoning 6216 6800.
