Helping Hobart’s housing supply

A NEW northern suburbs subdivision, which sold out stage one before officially hitting the property market, is set to provide welcome relief to Hobart’s housing supply problem with 213 residential land parcels being released for sale in Austins Ferry.

Tasmanian developer Errol Stewart said the development had been made possible with the assistance from the newly named Tasplan Commercial Lending, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tasplan Pty Ltd.

Mr Stewart said the project presented the perfect opportunity to deliver more housing options within a short drive of Hobart’s CBD and offer some much-needed relief to the city’s housing supply issues.

“It’s no secret there is a real need for more housing in greater Hobart,” he said.

“The land at Whitestone Point offered a solution to part of this problem, and with the help of Tasplan Commercial Lending we have been able to make this vision a reality.

“The development offers a wide range of land options to suit a number of price points and by opening up this land for residential development we hope to ease pressure on Hobart’s housing supply problems.

“The site is serviced by a direct bus line to the city centre, intersected by the cycleway and is right on the doorstep of a proposed future inner-city train station, all features which will make commuting a breeze for residents regardless of their preferred mode of transport.”

Tasplan commercial lending manager Andrew Woodberry said the decision to invest in Whitestone Point was a well-considered and positive move for the newly renamed fund.

“When the opportunity arose to assist the Whitestone Point development, we saw it as a perfect opportunity to invest Tasplan member’s super into a sound investment which would both be beneficial for the state and deliver returns to members,” he said.

“Tasplan Commercial Lending is thrilled to be able to offer commercial loans to Tasmanians and to support this significant development.”
