Happy birthday, MAC

THIS month the Moonah Arts Centre (MAC) will be celebrating its first birthday.

Since opening its doors on 5 March 2015, more than 40,000 people have enjoyed a vibrant mix of arts, cultural and community events at the MAC.

Highlights have included the opening weekend extravaganza, “Stand Back”, a contemporary art exhibition curated for children titled “Continental Drift” and performances by a diverse range of local musicians.

This past year has also seen the MAC host performances including Blue Cow Theatre’s “Grounded”, Loud Mouth Theatre’s “Seminar” and M.A.D.E.’s “Episodes” – all of which have been nominated for Tasmanian Theatre Awards.

Other events that have been held in the MAC include the inaugural Hobart Fashion Festival, international children’s film festival “Little Big Shots” and a range of holiday workshops.

A terrific array of arts and events has been prepared for MAC’s 2016 program.

The MAC is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
