Glenorchy Knights gala day rewards young players

THE Glenorchy Knights Football Club recently held its annual gala day at Prince of Wales Bay for junior and youth players.

Players from under-six to under-16 age groups enjoyed a free sausage sizzle and drinks, while their parents received show bags with a range of goodies and information about the upcoming season.

Football Federation Tasmania’s ‘MiniRoos’ development officer Ben Horgan was also on hand, alongside Glenorchy Knights senior players, to run small-sided games throughout the morning.

Recently appointed club president Tony Bacic said he was excited to meet so many young players and parents who held “such a passion for the club.”

“I’m looking forward to a positive season both on and off the field,” he said.

“The players all had a great time in perfect weather and are obviously keen to start training prior to the commencement of the Northern Suburbs Junior Soccer Association in early April.

“The Knights Skilled Acquisition Program (SAP) for under-nine to under-12 girls and boys is already underway and the under-12 team is looking forward to competing in the national SAP festival in Devonport from 4-6 March.”
