THE Department of Human Services has special arrangements for payments and services over the Easter and Anzac public holidays.
Service centres and most phone lines providing Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services will be closed on Good Friday (19 April), Easter Monday (22 April) and Anzac Day (Thursday 25 April).
As a result, there may be some changes to your reporting and payment dates.
If you need to report your job search efforts or earnings, you may need to report early to avoid a delay in your payments.
You can check your reporting dates online.
It’s important to remember even though your reporting date may be different, the assessment period remains the same.
If you make a mistake with your estimate, you can correct this within 14 days or when you next report.
Payments won’t be delayed because of the public holidays, but we may pay you earlier than normal.
If this happens, you’ll need to budget so the payment lasts until your next payment date.
If you use self-service options to report on a public holiday you will be paid within two working days.
You can still use myGov online services, Express Plus apps and phone self-service to check your reporting dates, update your details and report your earnings quickly and easily.
While there are no changes to the usual child support payment arrangements, parents should note payments made after 18 April may be delayed by public holidays.
The automated Child Support Information Service line on 131 107 will still be available.
People can lodge some Medicare claims at their doctor’s office or using online services or Medicare Express Plus, as usual.
However, some of these claims may not be processed until after the public holidays.
If you use a BasicsCard you can transfer money onto the card on the public holidays by phoning 1800 132 594 from 8am to 5pm.
You can also check your BasicsCard balance on 1800 057 111 at any time.
