AROUND 200 children and their families braved the wind and rain recently to spend some quality time together as part of the annual Dad’s Day Out event.
Held at the Montrose Foreshore in November, the event offered a number of fun activities for children and their parents, including damper making, planting seedlings, learning about local endangered species and making toolboxes.
Children and their dads also got down and dirty in the mud with a variety of modified sports, such as handball, football and obstacle courses.
Families enjoyed a free barbecue cooked by Moonah Rotary and Mr Huff and Puff entertained the children making some crazy balloon creatures.
Additional activities included Make Believe face painting, fairy activities, learning new skills with Social Circus Tasmania and having photos taken with super heroes.
The Glenorchy Action Interagency Network lent its support to the Glenorchy City Council to host the event.
Organisers thanked Putter’s Adventure Golf, Magic Hand Car Wash, Croc’s Play Centre, Woody’s Skate and Play, Glenorchy Ice Skating Rink, AMF Moonah Bowls, Blundstone’s, ZAP Fitness, YMCA, Bunnings and Woolworths Claremont for their event sponsorship.
Thanks were also extended to the participating organisations and individuals who donated their time and provided fun activities and giveaways at the event.
