Close-knit community group farewells tutor

THE Claremont Craft Group recently farewelled needlecraft tutor Susan Mowatt who has moved from Claremont to Queensland to be with her family.

One of the group’s original tutors, Ms Mowatt was very skilled in all types of needlework and was happy to provide guidance on all aspects of the craft, from basic sewing to intricate tapestries.

Group co-ordinator Suzanne Watkins said Ms Mowatt would be greatly missed for her skills and sense of humour.

“She had tremendous knowledge around all types of sewing, and could turn her hand to a number of different crafts,” she said.

“She has been a volunteer for the Claremont Craft Group for the past 11 years, and we appreciate her wonderful contribution during this time.”

A special morning tea was recently held for Ms Mowatt to acknowledge her work.

The Claremont Craft Group is an initiative of the Greater Claremont Precinct and is held on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm at the Claremont RSL during school terms.

Beginners through to experts are welcome to attend the classes and are encouraged to bring along their own craft or learn something new.
