Claremont Community Library volunteers recognised

VOLUNTEERS at the Claremont Community Library were recently acknowledged for their contribution to the library at a special morning tea and book presentation.

Each volunteer received a copy of “Faces of Glenorchy” – a coffee table book developed by the Glenorchy Community Fund (GCF) that features photographs of 1300 Glenorchy residents and workers in various settings across the city.

The books were presented by GCF chair Adriana Taylor MLC, who praised the ongoing commitment of the volunteers to their local community.

Volunteer Library co-ordinator Jan Southorn said it was great to see the volunteers recognised.

“We have around 20 volunteers who assist with the day to day running of the library, and it was great to have everyone come together and have their work acknowledged,” she said.

“Our volunteers really enjoy the work that they do, and we are always on the lookout for other people willing to assist – even a few hours a month makes a real difference.”

The library is located at the Claremont Memorial Hall and is open from 10am-1pm Tuesday to Saturday. All community members from any area are welcome to join.
