Children learn the gift of giving

CHRISTMAS will be a little brighter for disadvantaged children this year thanks to the Benjafield and Berriedale Child Care Centres.

Children and families from the centres have joined together to participate in Operation Christmas Child, which distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world living in poverty.

For many of these children, the shoeboxes are likely to be the first gifts that they have had the pleasure of receiving.

An Operation Christmas Children representative paid a visit to both the Benjafield and Berriedale Child Care Centres recently to explain the program to children and screen a DVD to illustrate where the shoeboxes are sent and how happy the children are to receive them.

Operation Christmas Child is an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse, a not-for-profit Christian organisation that provides emergency relief and development assistance to people who are suffering throughout the world.
