IF you’re looking for the perfect Christmas gift that keeps on giving throughout the year then look no further than a season subscription for Hobart Repertory Theatre Society’s 2020 season.

You can purchase a three or four show season subscription and be treated to a year-long bonanza of quality theatre.

Season 2020 includes the following shows.

Keeping Up Appearances – written by Roy Clarke, this classic comedy makes its Tasmanian premiere from 28 February to 21 March and is directed by Shauna-Lee Ward.

Blithe Spirit – written by Noel Coward, this farcical comedy is guaranteed to raise your spirits. Running from 13 to 23 May and directed by Nicholas Lahey.

Charlotte’s Web – written by Joseph Robinette, based on E.B. White’s much-loved children’s book. Running from 3 to 18 July and directed by Anne-Blythe Cooper.

Love from a Stranger – written by Agatha Christie and Frank Vosper. This ‘Psychological Chiller’ runs from 23 October to 7 November.

Glenorchy resident Leah Venettacci will be playing the role of Daisy in Keeping Up Appearances.

Ms Venettacci last appeared for Hobart Rep in the role of Mrs Kendal in ‘The Elephant Man’, for which she won the Tasmanian Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress in Community Theatre.

She was also a co-director for the musical ‘Something’s Afoot’ and has been involved in costume design on a number of occasions.

An avid fan of Keeping Up Appearances (and having a grandmother who strongly resembled Hyacinth), Ms Venettacci was excited to join the team as Daisy – the devoted, but romantically repressed wife of Onslow.

“The rehearsal process has been great,” Ms Venettacci said.

“We have been given the freedom to really play around to develop these iconic characters.

“Daisy is such a joy to portray.”

In addition to Keeping Up Appearances, Ms Venettacci is very much looking forward to the launch of her own community theatre company in the New Year and staging her first production in September 2020 at the Playhouse.

In Season 2020, Hobart Rep will reward loyal members and those who book early with bigger discounts on tickets than ever before:
