2017 City of Glenorchy Excellence Awards

GLENORCHY residents and businesses were recently rewarded for their hard work and community contributions at the 2017 City of Glenorchy Excellence Awards.

More than 100 nominees and guests gathered on Friday 22 September for a gala ceremony at Tattersall’s Park Function Centre, with Glenorchy City Council Commissioner Sue Smith acting as special guest speaker.

“The City of Glenorchy Excellence Awards represent businesses, employees, apprentices and trainees within the Moonah and Glenorchy business precinct,” chairman of the Moonah Glenorchy Business Association (MGBA) Beres Taylor said.

“We were particularly impressed with the calibre of the 2017 nominations across the eight categories, showing a wonderful reflection of the growth and diversity of our local business community.

“The awards gala ceremony was a fantastic night and a great way to celebrate the astonishing work and achievements made by these businesses.”

The 2017 City of Glenorchy Excellence Award category winners and runners-up are:

2017 Business of the Year: Winner – St Albi Eatery & Bar; runner up – Glenview Community Services.

2017 Pride of Workmanship of the Year: Winner – Robyn Butler; runner up – Jennifer Apps.

Pride of Workmanship (Apprentice/Trainee): Winner – Goodstart Early Learning Glenorchy; runner up – West Moonah Community Preschool.

Pride of Workmanship (Employee): Winner –Koko Hair Design; runner up – Goodstart Early Learning Glenorchy.

Manufacturing/Industry: Winner – Lean-To Kitchen Tasmania; runner up – Lil Lizzies Kitchen.

Retail: Winner – Shake a Leg Jr.; runner up – Claremont Veterinary Surgery.

New Business (Under Five-Years-Old): Winner – St Albi Bar & Eatery; runner up – Shake a Leg Jr.

Hospitality: Winner – St Albi Bar & Eatery; runner up – Shake a Leg Jr.

Non-Profit, Non-Government and Community Organisations: Winner – Glenview Community Services; runner up – Tadpac.

Professional/Services Industry: Winner – Two-Way Taxi Trucks; runner up – Martins Eye Care.
